In
1998, the provincial government’s announcement
that a new replacement school would be built for
Terry Fox Secondary School in Port Coquitlam caught
the imagination and interest of the arts community.
Recognizing
this as an opportunity to create a long awaited home
for the performing arts in Port Coquitlam, a group
of community leaders actively supported a dialogue
between the School District #43 and the City of Port
Coquitlam that resulted in the construction of the
Terry Fox Theatre facility that we enjoy today.
That
group of individuals named itself the Terry Fox Theatre
Advisory Group (TAG) and subsequently mounted a successful
fund-raising campaign to equip the theatre with state-of-the-art
sound and lighting equipment. A capital equipment
replacement fund was also established. To date, TAG
has raised more than $90,000 through sponsorships
and fund-raising campaigns.
The
Terry Fox Theatre played a dual role right from the
beginning by serving as a school and a community theatre
capable of showcasing an exciting array of professional,
amateur and student productions.
Today,
the Theatre is managed and operated by TAG now a registered
federal charity, whose founding members have been
directly involved with the theatre from the ground
up.

You
too can be an active supporter of the Terry
Fox Theatre by becoming a member of the Terry
Fox Theatre Advisory Group (TAG). The cost
of an annual membership is nominal. It entitles
you to a vote at TAG's Annual General Meeting
and a chance to support an exciting theatrical
venture.
